Horse Indoors 2008: Carina Hindelang wins overall Finals
in both the 1.40 and 1.45 U25 EY Cup Series
Carina Hindelang (GER) did
it, as her fans had hoped she would: this past weekend
she won the overall finals in both the 1.40 and 1.45 EY
U25 Youngster Cup. By placing 2nd in the 1.40 class on
Saturday, riding Promi Model, she achieved the overall
win with a total of 179 points. When she then placed
2nd, this time on Concord, in the final qualification
round of the 1.45 class, the overall points achieved led
her to a total of 178 and thus once again to the overall
winning of the series. "It was what I had hoped for, of
course," se said happily at the end of what was a long
and also very suspenseful weekend for the popular German
rider, "but I didn't expect it. I have to admit that I
was a little nervous, but my horses were very reliable
and jumped really great." With Concord, the 13 year old
Coronado son who finally carried her to her overall win
in the series, Hindelang says, she has an especially
close connection. "He has an enormously scopey jump, is
very easy to handle in the ring, and because he has such
a huge jump, competing on him is really fun. When I get
nervous, he really seems to notice and becomes
especially calm and confident, which then gives me
confidence in turn. I then get the very nice feeling
that I have a horse under me that I can rely on 100 per
cent." Asked about her further plans, Hindelang says: "We
are still celebrating for the rest of this week. My aunt
is currently here, visiting, and we are toasting the
past weekend's result whenever we get a chance around
the yard. Everyone is really happy, of course. For next
season, I now hope that all my horses will stay healthy
and I want to ride the EY Cup U 25 series again. I also
now envision competing in the German Championships, in
the Seniors division." |
